Maine Art Gallery (in Wiscasset)

Being part of the Maine Art Gallery is a passions, and a privilege. I have served on the board and been involved for several years.

Not long into my work there, I did a website redesign that elevated the aesthetic, streamlined the site, and increased the ease of use. As an institution in mid-coast Maine that has been around since 1958 and exhibited so many amazing artists and serves the local art community, it deserved a glow up.

The gallery has grown much since the redesign, and being the webmaster is a great experience. Hopefully, sometime soon, we will do another design refresh to reflect how the gallery has grown in its mission and presence.

Gail Donovan Award, Winning Author

Gail Donovan had been managing a blog-style site for a few years. It was simple, and she had outgrown it.

I worked with her to create a logo, did a photo shoot for a headshot, and created an updated site-wide aesthetic on a new WordPress site that reflected her work; and even designed a couple book marks. In this process, I helped her bring her brand into focus, visually. I also kept her audience in mind, making sure it was easy for everyone to navigate; from parents and teachers, to middle-grade readers.

She is a pleasure to work with, and continues to win awards for her books!

Winter Hill Farm

The owner of Winter Hill Farm was maintaining an outdated Squarespace site that was difficult to use on the back end, and had some pages and information on the site that were no longer relevant. I redesigned and streamlined the site to meet their business needs and add some design updates. We eliminated unnecessary pages, and I created a more user friendly experience for their customers.

The Green Lion Gallery

David Morgan, artist and owner of the Green Lion Gallery, formerly in Bath, ME, hired me to transfer and upgrade his previous site. I chose Squarespace as his platform for its ease of use and simple shop integration. It was a pleasure working with him.

A few years ago, when he decided to leave his brick-and-mortar gallery and continue online only, he hired me to work with the then-current gallery manager as a team to refresh the look without losing the essence of my original redesign.

Refreshing the design of a site every few years is a good, and common practice. It means keeps your online presence current with your business as it changes and grows. It’s also fun to mix things up every two to three years.

Katheleen Goddu, Fiber Artist

My first official web client was local artist, Kathleen Goddu. Kathleen practices Japanese textile arts called shibori and sashiko, and offers workshops. This site gave her an online presence she could use to reach a wide audience.

Nearing the end of a career helping children with speech skills, she discovered self expression through fabric art. With this project, I helped Kathleen develop a venue for that expression. She can now show her work to anyone, and has the means to advertise her workshops. The workshop in the summer of 2017 was a success. She said she received many more responses than expected because of the web site. It was a pleasure helping an artist showcase her work, and create a space that allows the rest of us to learn about her.
